wacky, irreverent lifestyle that leads to some hilarious adventures.

Celebrating the improbable ties that bind us together.
Like Thornton Wilder's "Our Town", "Lonely Planet" examines human suffering and fear, then tempers it with affection and connection. Dietz's play is modest, yet encompasses epic themes, as two gay men ponder friendship and what it means to have lived.

Harvey is the comedic story of likeable man and his imaginary friend, “Harvey”, a 6-foot,
three-and-a-half-inch-tall rabbit. Elwood P. Dowd starts to introduce his
imaginary friend, Harvey, a pooka, to guests at a society party.
His society-obsessed sister, Veta, has seen as much of his eccentric behavior as she
can tolerate. She decides to have him committed to a sanitarium to spare her daughter,
Myrtle Mae, and their family from future embarrassment. When they arrive at the
sanitarium, due to a comedy of errors, the doctors commit Veta instead of Elwood, but
when the truth comes out, the search is on for Elwood and his invisible companion.

No Sex Please, We're British
|
|
By Anthony Marriott & Alistair Foot
|
|
No Sex Please, We're British tells the story of a young bride who lives above a bank
with her husband, the bank's assistant manager. Innocently, she sends a mail order off
for some Scandinavian glassware. What arrives instead is Scandinavian pornography.
The plot centers around the conundrum of how best to dispose of the veritable floods of
pornography, photographs, books, films -- and eventually, girls -- that threaten to engulf
and destroy this happy couple's marriage.
The matter is considerably complicated by the man's mother, his boss, a visiting bank
inspector, a police superintendent and a muddled friend who does everything wrong in
his reluctant efforts to set everything right, all of which works up to an ending with
closed or slamming doors.

Laura Goes On E-Match
by: Rita Weinstein
|
|
Cutler Thurman is "more than a lawyer, he's a human being." At least that's what his radio ads would have his prospective clients believe. Too bad he doesn't realize that being human means sometimes getting it wrong, very wrong. His long-neglected wife, Laura, has found herself in an unexpected romantic relationship with Charlie, a coworker she's been spending long hours with. Communication and trust have come naturally to them, Cutler is never around, so things just kind of happen and Laura's ready to cut the ties. Problem is, as good a lawyer as Cutler is, Laura can't let him know there's someone else and needs for Cutler to be the one to ask for a divorce so she can get a decent settlement.
Charlie's the one who comes up with a solution. Why not put Cutler on a dating site? He and Laura will set him up with "chance meetings" at the coffee shop where he spends every Saturday morning. With such an over-size ego, Cutler will just think he's getting lucky and have an affair of his own that Laura can catch him at. They don't believe their luck when the perfect girl shows up, and Cutler falls hard for her. It looks like Laura's going to get what she wants, a chance to start over with a sexy younger man who actually pays attention to her. But this is a comedy, and Cutler has a secret.

A Murder is Announced
Adapted for the stage by Leslie Darbon
|
|
For those of us who enjoy mystery and thrillers in the old world style of Agatha Christie
(1890-1976), this stage production will be a treat. Agatha Christie is the world's
bestselling author and the most popular mystery writer of all time. She was a brilliant
writer and definitely ahead of her time.
Welcome to a classic Miss Marple mystery! The local paper of a small village in England
runs an ad announcing a murder. Several curious townspeople congregate to witness
this alleged murder and when one actually occurs, everyone becomes a suspect.
Between the Chief Inspector and clever Miss Marple the mystery unravels, but not
without consequences. For those of you unfamiliar with Miss Marple, she is a cunning
seventy-something old maid who, despite her knitting and docile demeanor, is astute
and as sharp as a tack when it comes to solving murders.
Directed by Martin J. Mackenzie and featuring Nicole Chamberlain, Carol Jean Chandler, Quata Cody, Nathan Dewey, Michelle Fuller, Julie Hoang, Ted Jaquith, Melissa Malloy, Dennis McCabe, Melody Mistlin, Juliana Pereira and Justin Tinsley

Spotlight on New Local Playwrights
|
|
|
The Peregrine Sonata
by Amanda Aikman
|
|
Five very different women struggle through their work, passions, and art to create a better world. Like most people, they wonder whether their efforts are in vain. Through glimpses of dramatic turning points in their lives, three interwoven plays show how a 19-year-old bike messenger, a middle-aged physician, two rival war correspondents, and a gifted young composer create far-reaching consequences of which they are completely unaware. Realistic and affirming, “Peregrine” is an eye-opener for all of us.
Amanda Aikman (playwright) brings to her plays a depth of compassion -- and amusement at the human condition -- garnered from her experience as a Unitarian minister, spiritual director, and joyfulness consultant. She is fascinated by the intersections of religion and science, sexuality and politics, art and technology. Fifteen of her plays have been produced in the Seattle area during the past decade. Amanda gives keynotes and workshops about joyfulness in the U.S. and Canada, and is in love with her tiny but hilarious congregation in Mount Vernon.
directed by Douglas Staley and featuring Nicole Chamberlin, Ian Gerrard, Julia Griffin, Julie Hoang, Pearl Klein, James Quatier, Carollani Sandberg, Carrie Schnelker and Suzanne Soule.
