The Driftwood Players are pleased to feature the work of Sue Coccia in the
theatre lobby during the run of Jungalbook. Understanding the relationships
between human and animal, and working with endangered species by promoting
protection of habitat is the core of Sue's art work. She begins with one
animal, and then integrates within it many others, including patterns,
habitats, and elements such as water, sky, moon, etc. Infused are Native
American, Polynesian, aboriginal, and eastern symbolism. She starts with pen
and ink, then paints with acrylics. Sue has formal art schooling from the
Burnley School for Professional Art. Previous to that she was fortunate to
have the internationally recognized Edmonds artist Elaine Johnston as her
high school art teacher. Her spark comes from a deep love of animals.
